    Anatolia is a very rich land for folk music and every region has their own song structures, rhythms, scales, themes and languages. In this workshop series, we are going to be exploring various Turkish Folk music from different regions in Turkey. I'm going to be sharing widely used rhythmic structures in Turkish Folk music, and together, we will be exploring various modes and scales dominating the folk songs. I will be sharing a few different songs to explore the commonalities and differences among these regions in Turkey. We will focus on a couple of songs we pick together to dive deeper into the musical journey.

    The one-on-one workshop includes 2x45mins online classes. No professional singing background is required for the workshop, but a huge interest in singing and exploring is encouraged. 

    Damlalala

    Damla is a singer, dancer, story-teller, volunteer, and traveler from Turkey. She worked with children and adults in several NGOs around the world for gender equality and social justice. She is a true believer of the social change through the magic of music, dance, arts and social circus. She has been a singing and dancing since she was a little, growing up with a musician grandfather. For the last few years, she has been playing Turkish string instrument baglama and she has been researching Turkish Folk Music and sharing the songs, the stories from all around Anatolia.
